320i automatic gearbox probs

Hi eveyrbody.
I own a 1997 320i E36 saloon automatic and I m facing similar probs with gearbox. It used to getting "stuck" somewhere between shifting 1st gear to 2nd, I 've spent some 2500euros to fix it but now, after almost 3yrs, its happening again. Additionally, only E is working. S and snowflake dont work at all. Changed the oil but nothing changed. I m thinking to replace the gearbox!!! Any suggestions or ideas?

I am not sure if the gearboxes would be different between my 3's and yours. With the info you provides, I am betting an electrical problem. Start with fuses, connectors, frayed or 'cooked' wiring...It doesn't sound to me like a gearbox problem, and BMWs are famous for 'electrical system gremlins'.
