my battery light flickers on and off while accelerating, more revs duller light, was on the freeway today and my abs light started flashing, then a min later became solid the check engine light came on finally I lost acceleration and all my gauges flat lined as I was pulling over, tried re starting it acted as if battery was dead, 2 hrs later car started 5 min later same scenario!!??
Information like what voltage your battery is reading with the car off, then with the car running and a half hour after it's been turned off would be helpful to attempt a diagnosis.
Sounds like your Alternator has failed hence the Battery light flashing. while you drive, your engine is draining your battery causing gauge flat line, a fair battery will recoup after a rest for a while but will fail altogether eventually until you fix the cause. An easy test i used to do is get car started then disconnect battery earth, if alternator is working car should keep running, must admit this test was on old pre ECU cars so not 100% sure this test will still work, its a pretty safe bet it is your alternator that's kaput ...... good luck
Read your "Key off" battery voltage prior to starting...should be 12-12.7 volts. Start the car and read the voltage...should be 13.2-14.5. With car still running, turn on headlights, radio and heater fan and again read voltage...should be in the same range as before turning them on. If not you can go to Autozone or oreillys and they will test. I do the first part before going to an auto parts store. They ARE trying to sell you something. If above not there: ist test perhaps bad battery..2nd test says if alternator or voltage regulator...third test just confirms (or denies) 2nd test, but provides load to see if alternator can sustain...if battery is fully charged, alternator may not kick in without load.
