Hi there,
I have recently bought a BMW 323i that had a few small problem. I have refurbished the brake calipers, repaired the miles indicator, replaced some light bulbs, replaced power steering fluid etc.
And wanted to fix the power windows. Initially they were going up but then lowered again. So getting them up took multiple well aimed clicks on the switch.
I removed the panelling and have cleaned the internal rails. Applied some new lubricant and it seemed to work a bit better. Whilst doing this excercise ofcourse the battery drained and it became clear that there were a number of heavy spots whilst going up or down. This apparently causing the motor system to believe that a finger is stuck and hence it moves back done. So I did some more cleaning , charged the battery and guess what it worked !
The next day I worked some more on the car and lifted it up with the car jack on one side. Lowered it after finishing and drove it into work the next day.
When trying the window it now won''t lower anymore. I can hear and feel the relais/solenoids clicking in the window motor and also the other lighting slightly dims whilst pushing the button.
No movement however in the window. I have checked with a credit card if the window maybe stuck on the rubber but this is not the case. The battery is new and fully charged.
I am getting the impression that jacking the car may have upset some of the internal window system alignment. Does anyone have experience with this or knows how to solve this ?
