Hey all,
I have been having an issue with my E36 since I got it, it's not a major one as far as I can tell - but I wonder if anyone has any ideas. I'm wondering if its a MAF issue....
Occasionally, when cruising along at over 2K revs, power will die down and the injector light will come on for a few seconds then go out. Then power resumes as usual.
Without fail, these things solve the problem:
1. Dipping the clutch (either to change gear or simply dip and re-engage in same gear)
2. Letting the revs fall below 2K
The problem may also happen when moving off the mark at the revs reach high end black/red just before changing into second. This is probably the most annoying bit as I have to dip the clutch quickly to kick the power back in.
From a safety stand-point, this is rather irritating as merging into traffic 'could' potentially get nasty.
However, from a fixability point of view, It reeks of something simple....
Any ideas? MAF, Camshaft Sensor, Boost Pressure sensor?
Performance mods done to my car:
1. Chipped (from reputable germany autotech company that specialises in bespoke chips - not cheap crap).
2. De-cat
3. EGR deactivated by removing vacuum hose.
4. Free flow panel filter
It would be worth noting that the problem existed BEFORE any of this was done, and is so infrequent that it rarely happens.... maybe once or twice a week, at the moment even less.
I used the OBC to look at the diag data and it says this:
0113 005 E3
0208 000 E1
0302 000 E2
0420 000 E3
Are these fault codes?
Is one of them MAF?
Could it be a fuel pump?
The small sensor on the bottom of inlet manifold that looks very much like the MAF was replaced not too long ago - there is also a tube, I assume the tube is manifold absolute pressure?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
