cannot INPUT TIME in OBC

Postby leruth on Wed Sep 09, 2009 10:16 pm

I have a 1995 325i that recently had some work done. When I got it back, the OBC says "INPUT TIME". However, it won't accept a time input. I can press the Clock button all day long and it doesn't enter set mode. The 1-1000 buttons on the left do work. I've used them successfully to enter the test mode of the OBC. I did this thinking that by unlocking the OBC, I'd be able to set the clock. However the unlock method I've read about (month number+date) does not do anything but return me to the INPUT TIME indication. Perhaps it doesn't know the date either, so entering the correct sum is not accepted.

Other OBC functions appear to work (Consumption, Speed, Timer, Range, etc).

I'm fairly certain the battery (if not the OBC itself) was removed during the work done on the car.

Any thoughts about how I get past this block in the OBC and set the time?

Thanks for the help.

Well, here's the answer to this one:

The light bulb behind the clock display was burned out. Replaced if for $5 at the dealer.

I guess the lesson is to always check the obvious (or what should be obvious) before considering the exotic.
