m3 evolution: substantially reduced engine power

Postby wolfgang on Wed Sep 09, 2009 6:41 pm

hey guys.

first post on here so hello all!

i just bought a 1999 m3 the other week, and its massively underperforming... most upsetting.

the engine runs fine, idles fine, sounds fine, but its seriously lacking general engine power. 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds...? more like 8.5. the car is low mileage at just over 40K and was recently serviced.

i'm wondering whether it could be the vanos...?

anyone any ideas?

thoughts would be most appreciated!

thanks,

wolfgang
