Wiper blades and OBC fuel consumtion

Postby NBURFORD on Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:51 pm

Hi everyone.
I have trawlled through many forums to resolve my problems, but to date I have had no luck. Then I came across this site and I thought I'd give you guys a chance to help me. Thanks in advance :-)

Okay here is my problem...
I have a 1995 325tds se and a few months ago the average fuel consumption on the on board computer stopped working. On both consum 1 and consum 2 it displays nothing. Also at the same time my wiper blades when set on normal speed only work intermitantly (every 5 seconds) when I'm moving. On the second speed the wipers work fine.

I believe that the on-board computer thinks that the car is on stop, hence the wipers only working intermitantly (every 5 seconds) when the wipers should be running at normal speed, and the fuel consumption showing zero.

My speedometer is working perfectly. Is there another speed sensor somewhere which will affect both my problems at the same time?

Look forward to your replies.

Thanks

Have you tried pulling out the O.B.C. and checking behind it for a loose cable?

To be honest no I haven't pulled out the OBC to check for loose connections as I assume that all the cables are connected because the rest of the OBC is energised and working!
Thanks for your reply all the same.
Cheers.
