I went to a lock smith to have duplicates made for my 4-edge laser cut keys for my 1995 325i convertible and had a "SHOCK". They wanted $80 each, claiming it is difficult cut for BMW keys. Six months ago I had laser cut 2-edge duplicates made for my 1995 Saab 900Se Convertible and it only cost $22.00 each...(different locksmith and out of my immediate area, was opportune at the time). Haven't shopped it yet, but wanted to know if anyone else had this 'experience'!?!? These are NOT chip keys.
Found my own answer. This being a 'late' 1995 (Produced 10/95) it IS a chip key. Found locksmith who provided the blank, lasercut and programming for $62.75. (Note: First locksmith did not recognize this was a chip key and price was only for non-chp blank and laser cut!)
