Pics of scuttle drain required

Hi,
This is my first post and of course I'm looking for something and not contributing
I have discovered that my carpet sponge is soaked with water so I have had to pull it out so I can dry it. While I had it out my brother ran a hose over the windscreen and down the vents on the bonnet and I could see the water coming in from under the centre of the dash. I believe that it is the drain from the scuttle panel that is blocked. However, I have no idea where it is. I removed the panel but couldn't see anything. Could someone please point me to a guide or upload a photo?

Ok never mind so

Anyway I reckon it is coming in around the pipes which bring the water into the heater under the scuttle panel. Has anyone ever had this problem b4?

I have looked at your post a few times and it never made any sense. Willing to kill some time I did a little search... Apparently "scuttle" is British for what the rest of the world call a Cowl.

Nope, I haven't heard of that problem before. Fill it up with silicone and see if your theory is correct?

Thats what I have done! Gonna attack it with the hose on Saturday to see if it holds

Please do share your results. I have been thinking about it and I can really only say I have heard to two water problems in the e36... those two being water in the boot and flooding the ECU.

Ok it seems the silicone didn't do the trick. Looks like the majority of the dash may have to come out. Frig! Anyway, I will let ye know how I get on. Anyone know of a guide to removing the dash or else I will have to chance my arm.

Ok hopefully somebody can help me identify this unit. It is under the scuttle panel and it is under or around this that I have my leak. I will have to remove it to have a look but if anyone has done this before any help would be appreciated. It is the unit that you close to stop fresh air coming in. It seems I can't attach an image from but I have a link from realoem which I think is the part but I still don't know what it is called.

Ok I may have found the problem. When I removed no.22 on the first like below the rubber seal had all but disappeared. So have to run to BMW tomorrow to order a new one. I hope that this is finally the answer. If it is not this then it is a much bigger job as the only other thing is the seal between the heater housing and the bulkhead as can be seen as No.4 in the other link

Heading to the dealer tomorrow. Will let you know. It says about $12 on oem but don't know how much will really be . . .
