Hey there.
I've just bought a 2 owner 50K miles 2000 316i Compact.
Great, or so I thought!
The day I collected it, the driver's side window malfunctioned.
I noticed that the windows (electric) were very slow on both passenger & driver's side going down & going up.
Then I put the driver's side down and the whole glass pane slipped in the door with the front not going back up, and a crunching sound until I could get the motor to stop.
The next day, the exact same thing happened on the passenger side.
Annoying.
Have managed to manually push the glass back in the passenger door but the driver's door was a no go.
Now the motor in the driver's door won't operate and the airbag warning light has come on on the dash.
I'm used to fiddling with uncomplicated cars myself, like old Golfs and Mercs, but am a bit wary of pulling out door cards on a BMW (never owned one before) and manhandling the electrics as I don't know what I'm doing there.
Can anyone advise as I'm a bit worried that the car will get knicked with the windows being so easily openable (you can push the passenger side down & the driver's glass will lift out of the door).
Either that or I'm going to have to bite the £300 bullet and take it to a garage s/where for them to fix.
Thanks in advance,
James
