I have a 98-99 bmw 323is coupe, it has the original engine, I have access to a 96 bmw m3 manual tranny, and all the works, now, my bmw is auto, i believe the 4 speed, but i am not sure, ARE the trannys interchangeable with my block? THANKS everybody!
thanks, hey im new to the whole bmw modding thing, ive been into hondas and mitsu's im not the biggest fan of mitsu's they are crap. are there any good websites i can go to for bmw specailty parts and turbo kits? intake manifolds? and i am in usa if that helps,
Performance parts have a look at Turner. Theres lots of places that sell E36 stuff but not having bought from them I cant tell you too much. Have a Google. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/
Intake manifolds. If you have an OBD2 car(From memory '96+) You can swap back to an OBD1 manifold which has bigger intake runners. Fairly easy swap but you trade your low end torque for higher peak power... I personally think that even with a 2.8 I'm lacking torque so I wouldn't wanna give it up but obviously others feel otherwise. I don't think there's much need looking for an after market one or custom until you get some other parts into your engine.
BMW did a very nice job from the factory. Following the 3" rule and putting a 3" intake(necked back down to fit the standard throttle body) and a free flowing 3" exhaust don't gain you that much other than more intake and exhaust noise.
