Spacers wont help you in this case, all they do is stick the rims out the sides a little bit further.

The best way to swap from 5 stud to 4 is swap the whole wheel hubs. I have seen conversion where they used e36 parts to get 5 stud hubs onto an e30 so one would presume the conversion should be able to be done in the opposite direction. This still may not help you much because e30 rims are getting harder to get and not all 4 stud rims have the same spacings etc. so you can have a 4 stud hub and a 4 stud rim and they won't fit.

It's easier(and cheaper) to just look for some nice 5 stud rims. If there is a set of rims you absolutely must have you're better off trying to order them without holes then having them drilled to fit you car.
